Bellvilla Community Nursing Home

Author: Judy Vahey

Bellvilla Community Unit was built in response to the strategic planning of the previous Eastern Health Board to move older person care facilities nearer to community settings.  The Unit was opened in March 1998.

It is comprised of a 50-bed unit for older persons.  The unit is further divided into two wards, Primrose and Lilac ward.  Each ward is comprised of rooms that contain two beds and rooms that contain four beds, in addition to single bedded rooms.

Services offered include:  Day care, extended care, respite, convalescence care and physiotherapy.

Following disbanding of the Eastern Health Board, Bellvilla is now managed by the Health Services Executive (HSE).
