Public Health Nursing

Public Health Nursing service works within a multidisciplinary team to deliver domiciliary care to clients across all care groups.

The service provides a range of community services which can include participation in:-

  • Developmental screening.
  • Support & advice to parents.
  • Child maternal & family health monitoring.
  • Immunisation programme.
  • School Health programmes.
  • Home nursing based on health needs assessment.
  • Nursing services and support to the elderly, persons with a disability and to their carers.
  • Discharge planning with hospitals.
  • Programmes for Cultural diversity groups.
  • Health promotion programmes.

Public Health Nursing Service is delivered by a skill mix of Public Health Nurse's, Community Registered General Nurse's and Health Care Assistants who are based in health Centres within a community health service area.  They usually work in assigned geographical areas.
