Psychiatry of Later Life
This is a recognised speciality within psychiatry which is concerned with mental health disorders of people over the age of 65 years.
This service aims to provide assessment and treatment for elderly people developing functional and organic psychiatric disorders for the first time.
It is a multidisciplinary community based day service situated in Sheaf House.
In late 2005 a home care service was also introduced.
Presently there are no dedicated in patient beds.

This service can also be accessed following referral from GP’s and Medical teams within AMNCH.
The team consists of a consultant psychiatrist and two community mental health nurses.
