Nurse Practice Development Unit (NPDU)
1998 saw the introduction of the NPDU in the former South Western & East Coast Mental Health Areas in tandem with the development of the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing programme. The NPDU was aligned directly with the Faculty of Nursing Trinity College Dublin rather than aligned directly with individual mental health services.
The NPDU was initially based in the nurse home at St Loman’s Hospital Dublin with responsibility for practice development in the entire South Western and East Coast Mental Health Services. In February 2004 the NPDU moved to a HSE building at Nangor Rd D12.
