This link connects to the homepage of AGREE. It started in 1998 as a research project ‘Appraising clinical guidelines' under the Biomedicine and Health Research (BIOMED 2) Programme, funded by the European Union - www.cordis.lu/biomed/home.html . The project was coordinated by the Department of Public Health Sciences at St George's Hospital Medical School www.sghms.ac.uk and ended in June 2001. The main objective was to develop an appraisal instrument to assess clinical guidelines and to harmonise guideline development across Europe in order to minimize duplication of efforts.
In November 2002 the AGREE Collaboration received additional funding from the Accompanying Measures EU funded programme of the 5 th Framework until April 2004 to further disseminate and implement the AGREE Instrument. This was again coordinated by the Department of Public Health Sciences at St George's Hospital Medical School in London. The central aim of the project was to enhance effective health care policy in Europe by promoting the diffusion of a comprehensive approach to the production, dissemination and evaluation of high-quality clinical guidelines through established networks
