A new mental health centre is to be constructed at Ballyfermot and also additional residential accommodation for people with mental health problems.

Further residential facilities will be provided on the campus of St. Loman’s Hospital together with a new mental health centre for the Clondalkin sector.
It is also hoped to build a new hostel complex adjacent to the day hospital at Crumlin.
A new Home Care Team has been established in the Tallaght sector and is providing a model of service similar to the established programmes in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin.
It is hoped to provide a specialist Home Care Team for the Psychiatry of Old Age Service shortly and a comprehensive training programme is being planned for this service at present.
Mental Health Informatics project commenced in February 2003 with initial purchase of 32 computers. The next stage of this project is staff training in information technology skills.
