Aspen: High Observation Unit

This is a 6 bedded unit adjacent to Rowan Unit within AMNCH, which opened in late October 2005.

This unit provides specialist assessment and treatment for individuals during an acutely disturbed phase of their illness.

Patients are referred to Aspen following a comprehensive risk and behavioural assessment.

Care is intensive, and is delivered by a multidisciplinary team working towards holistic therapeutic outcomes.

The duration of stay is usually short, as once the patient’s mental state begins to improve they are referred to either Rowan or Cedar Unit.
